“Home of the Shining Stars”

I am completing my 24th year as an educator in Mobile County Public Schools.  I have been honored to serve as Principal of W. C. Griggs Elementary, “Home of the Shining Stars" for 8 years.

Personal Information:  I am an Alabama native.  My husband and I have been married for 34 years.  We have 3 children, Will is 29 years old, Abby is 28, and Luke is 22.  I have two dogs.  I enjoy exercising, spending time with family and my job.  There is no greater gift than to be in the presence of God's children each day.  I know you place your most precious gift in our hands when you choose to send them to our school.  We are committed to serving the families of our community and empowering our students to find their voice and let their greatness shine.

Education, Career and Honors: I am  a graduate of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School.  I earned a bachelors degree in business administration and marketing at Troy University.  I received my masters in elementary education and certificate in educational leadership from the University of South Alabama. I began my education career in 1992 as an elementary teacher at Leinkauf and Robbins Elementary Schools.  In 2001 I became an administrator.  I served 1 year at Robbins Elementary as an administrative intern and 2 years as an assistant principal at Fonvielle Elementary.  My first principalship was Glendale Elementary School, where I served from 2004 to 2008.  I was Robbins Elementary Teacher of the Year in 1998 and was selected as Mobile County Council of PTAs Principal of the Year in 2010, 2014 and 2015.  In 2014, I was selected by Tillman’s Corner Area Chamber of Commerce to receive their Spirit Award .  I was District 2 Alabama National Distinguished Principal in 2014 and currently serves as District 2 President of Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators.

It is my goal to be a servant leader and faithful steward of all that is entrusted to me.  As a The Leader In Me School, we are equipping and empowering our Griggs Shining Stars to be successful, productive, digitally fluent lifelong learners, leaders and citizens, dedicated to improving their communities and the world. #griggsnationleads
