Subjects Taught

I grew up in Mobile and went to McGill-Toolen Catholic High School.  I got my bachelors degree at Southern Mississippi.  I received my Master's in Education at South Alabama.

I started teaching in 2006.  I taught 1st grade in Picayune, MS for 2 years.  I then moved back to Mobile because I wanted to start the master's program at South Alabama.  It took me 2 years to complete and during those years I was a nanny and a substitute teacher.  After I graduated I got a 2nd grade position at Dixon Elementary.  I am now teaching Kindergarten at Griggs and I am loving every minute!  This will be my 7th year in Kindergarten.

I grew up in Mobile and went to St. Dominic's Catholic School and then to McGill-Toolen.  After high school I moved to Mississippi and went to The University of Southern Mississippi.  During my senior year in college Hurricane Katrina hit, and my best friend happened to be from Bay St. Louis, where the storm hit the hardest.  Most of the schools were destroyed and after the first year most of the teachers were let go because of the lack of jobs.  I had already decided that I wanted to move there despite the devastation.  I moved to Bay St. Louis and fortunately I got a job in Picayune, which was about a 45 minute drive.  I stayed there for 2 years, but missed my family.  So, I moved back to Mobile and started school at South.  Within my first few weeks of being back home I met my husband.  We now have a wonderful little boy named Tripp.

This is my 8th year in the Mobile County Public School System.  It has brought new challenges, but so many more rewards.  I look forward to what is ahead and all of the excitement that this years Kindergarten class offers!
